Sometimes I feel so alone, so out of sync with others, so by myself. I’ve got lots of friends and family who love me, but there are times they just don’t seem to understand me, or what makes me tick. I feel I’m on a path that not very many people take. One that is different. One that is misunderstood. One that is ‘out there’. Basically, I’m on a path that chose me. Do you ever feel that way?
My path is filled with new beginnings, new experiences, new ways of looking at ordinary situations which can be different than the norm. It’s not the path that I always want to be on, but it is a path that chose me. It can be very exciting while at the same time really scary. It’s a path that is filling me with the Love of the Creator, the path that feels right. That’s how I know it’s the path I’m meant to take.
When I was growing up I knew I didn’t want to have a career that was ‘the traditional woman’s path’…becoming a school teacher, secretary or nurse. I could feel that the career I wanted was atypical but had not a clue what it was. I never thought much about getting married or becoming a mom. What I did daydream about was saving people from disasters, like superman. He would get a vision of someone in trouble and fly off to save them in the nick of time. Superman was showing me what self-love looked like by following a path that was right for him.
I may not be saving people in the nick of time but I am following the guidance of Love inside me. The guidance that comes from the Love of the Creator that says “trust and follow me down this extraordinary path to find yourself.” The guidance that points me toward loving myself and then sharing that love with others by being a professional speaker, writer, author and, yes, a teacher. Not a school teacher, but a teacher who wants to talk to others about loving themselves, about following a different path, about practicing self-love.
Following your guidance by walking down a fulfilling path is a wonderful way to show love to yourself. It’s a path that puts you in sync with yourself, that many times takes you out of your comfort zone and helps you to become the person you’re here to be. Self-love is walking, running, moving slowly down a path that choses you, a path where you are showing love to yourself and then sharing that love with others. It’s a path that feels good, is fulfilling and is where you are the most happy.
A path that chose me is the most loving path I can be on.
What about you? Are you on a path that chose you?
