I’m reading the book by Catherine Ponder The Dynamic Laws of Healing. Wow, what a powerful book for those of us who are on the path of releasing pain, figuring out why we hurt and what we can do about it. I’m not a doctor and don’t prescribe medicine but I can share with you my journey of living a life with less pain and much more joy. You see, I believe that there’s a lot we can do to heal ourselves to put us on the path of enjoying our lives more.
The second dynamic law in the book is forgiveness. Ms Ponder writes on page 43 that the dynamic law of forgiveness is “an immutable mental and spiritual law that when there is a health problem, there is a forgiveness problem.” Well, as it happens, I’ve been dealing with pain in my back and using an Arnicare cream to relieve the pain. It’s been working but also wears off.
To get to the source of the pain, I’ve been asking, “What is this pain about?” Pain shows up to tell us, “Hey, you have something or someone to forgive.” I never know how the answer is going to appear. It could come to me in meditation or prayer, or I could read the answer in a book, or I might hear a song that has the answer in it. Or it can come through journaling, like it did this morning. I knew exactly what the incident was, who was involved and who I needed to forgive.
This is how I handled it. I allowed myself to relive the situation and completely feel the original raw feelings so that they could move through and out of my body. I forgave the other person for their part and forgave myself for my reaction which had caused the feelings to exist in the first place. Then I took some deep breaths and felt the relief of knowing that I had done what I could to clear the experience out of my body. This process, of course, took some time.
If you’ve been dealing with pain in your body, and have been looking outside of yourself for answers, try asking the deity that lives in you the question, “What is this pain about?”. Then expect and believe that you will receive the answer. Listen and know that it can show up in many different ways on any day.
There’s a lot of people dealing with pain in one form or another. If you would like to be part of a book study on “The Dynamic Laws of Healing” and live in the Dallas area, it starts on January 20 from 10:30-Noon, 2570 Valley View Lane, Farmers Branch. $10 per class.
